The Feldenkrais-Method is a system which
uses gentle movement exercises to increase body awareness and improve
the ease, balance, and effectiveness of action. It is based on the fact
that human beings have the ability to learn and to widen their
potential their whole lifetime.
Based on his
experience as Physicist and Judomaster, Moshé Feldenkrais (1904-1984)
developed a method leading to a more holistic image of our body and
ourselves. Moshé Feldenkrais believed that improving movement is the
most direct way to improve the quality of life.
Many tensions, pains and lack of well-being result from our way of
viewing ourselves and from using our bodies in a disconnected fashion.
Unaware of what we are doing we limit ourselves in our possibilities.
In the Feldenkrais Method we learn to raise awareness, to recognise
habits in movement and posture, and through finding new options, to
widen our range and ability of movement.
The
Feldenkrais-Method helps you to
- Improve your
posture and co-ordination of movement
- Become more
comfortable sitting and standing
- Release muscular
tension and stress
- Relieve physical
discomfort or pain
- Maintain or
regain your flexibility
- Improve your
performance (dance, music, theatre, martial arts)
- Increase
awareness of your body
"To become more flexible also means to
become more lively - physically, emotionally and mentally." (Moshé
Feldenkrais)
Anyone wishing to
improve the quality of their everyday life and activities can benefit,
regardless of age or physical condition.
The Feldenkrais-Method is available in two forms:
Group sessions known as Awareness
Through Movement
Individual
sessions called Functional
Integration.
